iMac PPP  Setup

 

Setting up an Apple iMac for use with OMNI Internet using the Internet Setup Wizard
The Internet Setup Assistant will configure every aspect of your iMac internet settings from a very easy to use interface.
  1. Locate the Assistants folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click the "Internet Setup Assistant" icon.

  2. On the Welcome screen, you are asked "Would you like to set up your iMac to use the Internet". Click Yes

  3. "Do you already have an Internet account?" Click Yes

  4. On the Introduction screen, click the right arrow in the lower right corner of the window

  5. Configuration name and connection type
    Under "What would you like to name this configuration", type in "OMNI Internet". "How will you be connecting to the Internet?" should be set to "Modem". Click the right arrow to continue.

  6. Modem Settings
    Check to make sure these settings are correct. The settings that were already here should be fine to use. Click the right arrow to continue.

  7. Configuration Information
    "What is the phone number for this configuration?" enter the OMNI Internet dial-up access number for your city.
    "What name do you use with this service?" enter in your OMNI Internet username (in all lower case letters)
    "What is your password?" enter in your OMNI Internet password (in all lower case letters)
    Click the right arrow to continue.

  8. PPP Connect Scripts
    "Does your ISP require that you use a PPP Connect Script when you log in?" should be selected "No". Click the right arrow to continue.

  9. IP Address
    "Is there an IP address for this configuration?" should be selected "No". Click the right arrow to continue.

  10. Domain Name Servers
    "What is the DNS address for this configuration?", select the option that DNS Name Servers are obtained or assigned automatically (they are provided by Omni upon login).

    Click the right arrow to continue.

  11. E-Mail address and password
    "What is the e-mail address for this configuration?" enter your OMNI Internet e-mail address, for example, username@omniglobal.net
    "What is the e-mail password for this configuration?" enter your OMNI Internet password
    Click the right arrow to continue.

  12. E-Mail account and host computer
    "What is the e-mail account for this configuration?" enter your OMNI Internet username.
    "What is the e-mail host for this configuration?" type in mail.omniglobal.net
    Click the right arrow to continue.

  13. Newsgroup Host Computer
    "What is the news group host for this configuration?" type in news.omniglobal.net
    Click the right arrow to continue.

  14. "Do you use a proxy server for Internet connections" select "No", then click the right arrow to continue.

  15. Conclusion
    If you want to connect up when finished, leave "Connect when finished" turned on, and click the button "Go Ahead".

    You are now finished entering all the information to set up your iMac to use the Internet.
